(( General Information ))
Character Name: Selen Hawthorn. (Has several names, but chooses this one out of favoritism: Cescelian Ylynn-Hawthorn) Age: Too old to remember. Identified Court: Dark Court. Fey Blood: Pure Dark. Appearance: Like the rest of Selen’s family, she had been born a brunette. In the Dark kingdom she had always been marveled as a mysterious beauty, which no man could touch. She stands at an average 5’8”, has no notable scars or disfiguration. However, after her untimely ‘death’ her appearance has taken to a vast change. Her once pale complexion is rather dark, tanned, as though her body had been basking in the sun far too long. While her lips had been once healthy and smooth, they appeared dried out - dehydrated. Once a slender woman, she is merely bones.
Before her attire had always been lavishing, with dresses and new hair styles. But now she has no energy to work upon her appearance, and wears heavy fabric instead, to hide the fragile appearance of her body. She cannot figure out exactly what happened, but her green eyes lost color and turned black -- her hair now blond, almost white, as though going grey.
Her wings are layered. The upper wings start at the bid of her back, branching out to curl slightly at the end. Over the upper wings is almost like a veil, it is almost a silver color, which ascends to the lower parts of her wings, which almost touch the ground she walks upon. Inner Court: Ruler of Dark. Level: Level 3 Powers: Her powers are akin to Etoile’s, but in a different way. Selen’s power, over much integrity and practice, is to use her absolute word. Whether her word be spoken or thought can trigger an individual fey to follower her instructions. Her powers are much made for a puppet master, guiding fey with the power of control. While she is not unlimited to control as many as fey as she can, it would be difficult to have her powers to be in range. For as soon as her order is over with, the hold her powers have start to disappear. Selen mostly uses her main powers as a source of interrogation. During the Fissure of Woe, she had used it on several fey to turn blades on each other.
At close range she uses a bayonet, and for long distances she is armed with bow and arrow. Magical Knowledge: Selen is adept in Dark weaving. She is versatile in its uses, but she specializes in the curse area. Using her absolute word and the source of dark weaving, her hexes become almost impossible to break. Selen is vindictive in her use of weaving, for she is capable of cursing a future child, or even plague dreams, even to the point where the curses become so extreme that it distorts the senses.
Unbeknownst to Selen, she was gifted with a section of death weaving. The ability for her to be alive, or even zombie-like, is the life of death weaving. She is now capable of sensing the life beyond. If she had used her powers and death weaving combine, she could possess another fey. But because she is not fully aware of the potential, there are only certain instances where the weaving is triggered.
(( Personality ))
Before her death, Selen used to be a ruler of fairness. She had a lot of tolerance for unreasonable death, but if the person killed for a reason that she found unjust; she would find a punishment that sees fit. Back in the day, Selen was known for hosting social events and talking to almost everyone. Now, she finds no reason to meddle with people’s personal problems or requests. She seeks out only the matters of the court, and to find her lost sister, Etoile. While she is not a person to come to hate people easily, it is safe to say that she hates her sister that had killed her in the first place.
Selen had not lost her soul in the process of her death, and was fortunate to be resurrected with Death weaving. However, now she is haunted with the final moments of her days, and has become a Queen of paranoia. To her Dark court she still controls her regime with a sense of sanity, compassion and fairness - but inside she always second guesses her decisions, and may even change them on a whim.
(( History ))
Born as a second child to Queen Fenanthla and King R'chriskn, Selen, over life-span has always been the most remarkable out of all her siblings. She had been graced with Fenanthla’s remarkable beauty and R’chriskn’s ability to per sway. Having both of her parents capabilities, it had always been in the Dark Kingdom’s best interest to always consider Selen as descendent to the throne. Unlike most of her siblings, she took no form in childish antics. She rarely found solace in hobbies, playmates or even to have control over another.
While she shared traits with her elder sister, she was unique in her own sense. She had disciplined herself severely to practice her bookwork, along with her weaving, powers and social skills (with mature/adult content). She had never missed a council meeting with her father, never came late to political standings and took an interest in all other fey. While she retained pride in her dark kingdom, she had felt pieces of herself missing - whether that was to seek other magical weaving abilities, to learn of other cultures or to even be someone who she was not. Selen was never liked for her personality or individual quirks, but for her powerful prestige within the kingdom. Unlike her siblings, she was a prodigy in the making.
As years passed and Selen had proven her worth in several council meetings (where she was the only daughter to be invited to), both Fenanthla and R’chriskn agreed that it was time for a new generation to rule. For over decades personal goals for dark fey have changed, and with Selen’s vast knowledge on new creations that other fey have created, had many propositions to make for her own. As soon as she was gained the throne, she had focused individually on her dark kingdom, wanting to improve it with alliances, military rankings and new technology.
Over the first year of her ruling, she was approached by many dark fey who had desired a position next to her throne. She had never once acknowledged these creatures as potential kings, but had asked them series of questions and physical demonstrations. Those who impressed her were quickly given a position in her court, depending on their capabilities. Fey who had failed but passed well enough, were allowed employment within the kingdom - only superficial ones.
Two recognizable names to her are Svv and Silvar, which she humors over calling them her “S” force. Silvar was given the title of warrior, which she gave with no doubts, aware that his abilities were pure for the protection of her kingdom. Svv, having a strange ability, had compelled her to keep the fey close, considering him more of a friend than a follower at times. Being a person to not rely on others, she had made herself active. There were times she would take on disguises to venture in other kingdoms, to gather information and to simply indulge in culture.
During one of her excursions to the Light Kingdom she was met with a rather large quandary. After several meetings with the warrior of light, she had felt a sense of insecurity over herself. With such personal gain in the warrior, she had returned back to her kingdom to confide her new love, in secrecy, to Svv. The untouchable fey had been nothing but supportive, so Selen acted upon it. However, with the exposure of her tyranny on her doorstep, the situation backfired, in which she had changed. No longer was she rational, but obsessive over the downfall of the Light kingdom and everything the warrior had loved.
As her attack ensued the Fissure of Woe, she had noticed the burdens she had caused many fey, for her personal ordeals. Selen was smart in her actions; however, for the Dark Council had never figured out the true intentions of her warfare - instead she had claimed it upon the knowledge she had discovered, in which the Light were increasing in power, and while in their time of peace, was the best time to act and remind them of their past mistakes (dealing them out of the iron secrecy to the humans).
When Bellgrinde went in the recovery stage, Selen morale had been weakened as well. She had been eased to see her elder sister still alive, as well as Svv. With ease she had followed Svv and Etoile to wherever they guided her, and within that short span of weakness, she was overthrown and killed.
Because her life and actions had been intertwined with a Death fey (without her knowledge), she was given a second chance. After being resurrected from a power beyond her comprehension, Selen returned to the Dark Kingdom to reclaim her throne, only to find that her murder had fled before she could be dealt with. As her mistakes are engraved into her permanently, she has become a person to focus only on her internal affairs/as well as her external ones, when the situation almost becomes dire.
