(( General Information ))
Character Name: Vaet Sunra Qou Age: 540 Identified Court: While Vaet was not born in the Fire Kingdom, he was accepted into the Fire Court. Fey Blood: Vaet has full fire blood. Despite proof that he is fire, citizens tend to question whether or not it is true. Appearance: To the gazing eyes, Vaet will appear calm, and sometimes even harmless. He has delicate futures, his high cheek bones disappearing within his oval face. Because of the intense heat, Vaet’s lips are usually dry, or chapped, but that doesn’t take away from the fullness of his lips that are adorned beneath a narrow nose. His eyes, on the other hand, take away from the harmful appearance -- the pupils are consistently dilated, and his irises burn with the color of imperial topaz. Vaet, usually uncomfortable with his eyes, hides his gaze with long, layered bangs.
Vaet’s attire is common in the Fire Kingdom. Because he is a warrior, he usually picks clothing that are fit for battle -- a black undershirt, usually draped with a red-orange cloak, tailored with gold symbols for weaving. Because heat is very important, he even sometimes wear a scarf around his neck, to keep in any heat for emergencies. On his wrists are two steel cuffs, engraved with more symbolic writing to help with the control of his powers.
From an accident in his past, there is a burn mark, right between the shoulder blades right above the beginning of his wings. Vaet’s wings branch out straight, only to curl at the ends. The base of wings looked as though ink was fresh ink was spilled over the base, considering there is a gloss. There are sections of his wings are spotted red, mirroring each other on each side. They are transparent, despite such intense colors. Inner Court: Warrior. Level: Level Two Powers: Using the heat within his body, or within his surroundings, Vaet can control the movement of flames with his mind. Since the mind is not always a stable place, Vaet prefers to channel the fire from his and into a weapon, finding that it is easier to direct where the flames can go with physical movements. Incase he loses the weapon, he made a back-up plan: the two steel cuffs around his wrist will allow him to use his hands, instead of a weapon.
Paired up with Ruler Lang, he is able to control the other’s powers, if they are directed to be in flames. Vaet usually finds himself struggling with the element of air, considering the force of wind/air can push back on the control of his mind, and causes him to lose focus. Lang could also be used against him. Magical Knowledge: Because weapons are a large factor in the control of his power, he is able to craft impeccable weapons with the use of fire weaving. He is selfish in this nature and doesn’t use his magic knowledge to help with the Fire Kingdom’s economy; considering he is a Warrior and his duty is to serve, and protect his Kingdom. Vaet only uses weaving on special requests or for personal enjoyment.
(( Personality ))
On the outside, Vaet usually chooses apathy about the war. He often explains that he harbors no personal feelings toward the Fissure of Woe, that war is meant to happen, because power is in demand. With Lang, however, he shares his distress. The Fissure of Woe, had almost caused an unnecessary genocide. While he wants to protect his Kingdom, he disagrees profoundly with his alliances. Vaet knows that wishing for peace is ignorant, and believes that proposing a treaty would be beneficial -- a treaty would increase every Fey’s economy, and have an increase in trade. There would be no need to pillage the other Kingdom’s for resources. With such seriousness in his position, he often feels that he will crumble due to pressure. His outlet is his closest friend. Vaet finds that if takes a calmer approach to difficult situations, then there is always a way around obstacles, even if it takes humor to do it. Vaet’s mood depend on certain situations. He thinks mostly with logic, with mind over matter. But when it comes to his personal life, he is protective over it, and feels that no outsider should be allowed. Vaet also harbors irrational racism toward the Ice Fey.
(( History ))
Shyuka and Raylian both met each other within the fire kingdom. The two were like any young couple, filled with adventure. Without thinking it over, the two eloped immediately -- after having a relationship on and off within their education -- and started to travel the world. Years within their travel, Shyuka, became pregnant. They had decided within months of the pregnancy that they would return to the Fire Kingdom, to raise their child with proper education. However, before they could make it there, Vaet was born outside the skirts of the Wind city. Bringing their new-born child back to the Fire Kingdom had caused many questions.
Some believed that Shyuka had an affair with a different Fey, despite the child looking like the two. They had guessed the child was cursed because Vaet’s irises barely showed. Vaet’s mother and father ignored the rumors, and decided it was time to end their nomadic life-style to raise their child. When Vaet became of age for magic education, he was enrolled immediately. His mother was very strict on Magic Weaving, and Vaet constantly complained about doing it. Despite his life being so easy, he had often felt the urge to get out of his home, and to leave, as though something was calling him.
But he stayed grounded. In his school, he never got along with anyone. He was usually the bully, finding no need for assistance and to make any close relationships. However, after a few more lessons he was paired up with another boy by the name of Lang Na. At first, he had wanted to resist the pairing and ask for a girl instead, but when he allowed himself to process who he was paired up with, he started to feel as though he wasn’t the only one struggling with his powers. The two had been inseparable after that. The teacher, Dai Gwun, who had paired them together had been very wise by knowing the two were uncontrollable flames that could be controlled by one another.
Dai Gwun worked profusely with them, to sharpen their minds, talent and to work as a team. Life had been fairly easier, and while he still hated to learn magic weaving, he continued because his mother had requested it of him. The teacher that had taught Land and Vaet lessons, had been a second father figure. One day, they had heard of a call: the warning was that the great teacher had fallen. Vaet, disturbed with the news, had sought out Lang for some sort of solace. But when he arrived to Lang, the other boy had been in a state of rage. The flames around Lang nearly consumed Vaet’s friend. Vaet, without really thinking, rang to Lang to calm him down.
As he was about to reach for Lang, Vaet turned away, feeling a severe pain between his shoulder blades. The pain was unfathomable at first, but he quickly came to his senses to find that Lang had calmed down and had a look of regret. Vaet would never forget Lang’s request: to place a similar burn between Lang's shoulder blades. At first, Vaet didn’t want to, but he found the loyalty and friendship to be heart-breaking, that he obliged reluctantly. A grave secret they share between the two.
Vaet and Lang’s friendship grew, as so do their partnership powers. When the two had almost perfected their skills, they had decided to overthrow the tyrant ruler. The ruler had been old, full of lust, and started to suck the prosperity from their lands. Vaet, not only hating the ruler, had desired the power as well. Lang had challenged the ruler to a duel, in which Vaet assisted. Lang, of course, had won his right to the Fire Kingdom and became ruler. With the two having ideas to better the Fire Kingdom, they restored job titles and continued to work on their offensive/defense strategies.
In-between forming alliances, the Dark Queen had seemed troubled. Vaet, seeing the worry on her face, had asked what her concern was. She had explained that the Untouchable Ice Fey had probed her mind and stole her secrets. Vaet, knowing the only resolve to the situation was to kill the Untouchable, had offered to do the deed for her. (Considering he hates Ice Fey, and knew that fire would kill her quickly). Because he had faithfully did the act, the Dark Queen and him are on speaking terms -- but he still does not have the heart to question her ruling.
Although the Fissure of Woe had been a huge blow to their Kingdom, Vaet believes that they are proficient enough to over come anything. His parents, however, returned back to their nomadic tendencies. And although Vaet still hates magic weaving, he is know very grateful to have learned the knowledge.
