(( General Information ))
Character Name: DieNah Bonaventura (pronounced die-nah bo-nah-ven-TOO-rah) Age: 205 years, relatively young for a Fey Identified Court: Water Court Fey Blood: Full-blooded Water Fey Appearance: Her true form is a half-human, half-fish creature, a mermaid if you will. Instead of legs, there is a deep cobalt-green fish's tail with little, paler cobalt fins periodically down it and ending in a pale cobalt-green fin. Her fin-ears are very sensitive to underwater vibrations and noises. Her tangled mass of curls is a dark blue-green, eyes as blue as the ocean in the night, tanned skin is tinged a seagray-green. A colorful sash is always around her waist, with a multitude of flutes, whistles and bells that can be heard even underwater hanging from it.
When out of the water, she can take on a more human form. Her eyes and hair stay the same, and her skin looses only some of it's gray-green color. The fin-like ears are changed to mimic a slightly pointed version of a human's and her tail splits into legs and feet. Her skirt will change depending on her mood, but always giving off a sort of gypsy feel. Her skirts are the exact color of her tail. One looking very closely would almost see a pattern of scales, as if the scales had separated from her body to form a skirt. The same sash is always there, looking part of the skirt when in human form.
Whenever water touches her, even if a glass of water is spilled on her, whatever part of her body that was touched reverts back to her mermaid form. When in the snow and ice, her body begins to turn but doesn't complete it-there is not enough water. For example, when walking in snow her feet will become scaly, but won't actually turn into a tail.
DieNah has armor for her top that she sometimes wears, specially made by an excellent Fire weaving forger; she finds no need to have armor for her lower half as her scales are an excellent armor themselves. Inner Court: Level: Level 1 Powers: She does not have a power to speak of, prefering instead to rely upon her extensive knowledge of different weaving arts. Most in her family line have been very late bloomers when it comes to power, but there have existed several that never obtained one. She has noticed that few things can get through her scales, whether in fish tail or skirt form, and wonders if this could be the start of a small defensive power. Magical Knowledge: DieNah has extensively studied many different magical arts. While she has avioded Fire, Death, and Light weavings on principle, she is almost a fountain of knowledge on the rest.
Water and Wind weavings come easiest to her, water for her nature and wind from sheer practice. It was her Wind weaving that lured so many, humans and Fey alike, down to watery graves.
Being in many fights and dangerous situations, learning Earth weaving seemed like a good idea at the time. She found that it doesn't suit her tastes so much, though being able both to heal and kill with herbs is to her liking.
Dark weaving was learned for it's usefulness in psychological warfare. Not practicing the rest of it much, DieNah has become a bit rusty with her curses. Learning Ice weaving was really more of an accident, a by-product of her increasingly frequent visits to the Ice Kingdom and a natural curiosity of beautiful things.
(( Personality )) DieNah is fierce and cunning, and a great asset in battle. She is a practitioner of the different martial arts, and has studied several ways of fighting and killing with magic weaving. She bores easily, and can never stay still for very long-always has to be doing something. One thing that never gets old for her is the entertainment found in sports.
Unlike most of her Water brethren, most Fey in fact, DieNah can stand the brutal cold of the Ice Kingdom, and visits frequently unbeknownst to the Water Fey. Her resistance to the cold could be because Water and Ice Fey are related down the line somewhere; perhaps it was built up from nothing, akin to building up a resistance against poisons; then it just as easily could be a trick of the mind, a determination to withstand the cold that will not be beaten.
(( History )) Born a short time before the Fissure of Woe, about 70 years, DineNh had a happy home life until the war. She had a mother and father and two brothers, all from a proud lineage that traced was back all the way to the original families. And it was traced back. A tapestry in the family manor (close enough to Vere Grotto to give directions from it, yet far enough away that you can't quite see the manor from the Grotto) depicts this lineage, with pictures of each family member and white lines on a grey background to describe marriages and births. It is said that the tapestry was made long ago from the silk of the Earth Kingdom silkworms, and spelled doubly to first be protected underwater (not to degrade ever), and second to change itself with each birth and marriage--a living family tree.
Before the war, DieNah loved to go to the Martini Resort with three friends. They would sing and dance in the shallow waters, inadvertantly drawing human ships to them. Sometimes the ships would crash and the humans would drown; sometimes a couple of humans would make it to them and stay to dance until they dropped from exhaustion, no longer able to do anything except drown in the shallow waters or simply float off. DieNah saw it as great fun, luring these humans in with their song. She and two of her friends decided to delve more into the arts of Wind weaving, that they could lure more humans from farther away, making a game of it. The third friend saw their fun for what it was: a slaughter of humans. This friend left the group and never joined again, disgusted with the slaughter and yet never tried to stop them or tell someone.
When the war came, DieNah wanted to join the fight. With no humans and few Fey to fall for her tricks, the traveling the world and testing her skills against others was the more appealing than ever. Her family, however, deigned her too young to fight, and chose instead to keep her safe at home. DieNah was furious to see her Father and elder brother leave to fight. Her attempts, and the younger brother's, at sneaking away ended with them both being locked inside the house, unable to even go outside.
DieNah's mother kind of......lost it. Her mind and consciousness decided to take a permanent vacation. She became listless, sometimes wandering the manor all day, sometimes sitting and staring out into the watery depths, barely saying a word. Eventually, she wasted away and died broken-hearted. DieNah's brother, now the man of the family, became over-protective of DieNah-not wanting to lose the only family member that was left.
